Julie has a relaxed and great way of communicating with all the staff and faculty. As a result, Julie is approached often to solve teaching and learning issues through the use of technology.

I believe that Julie's impact is wide-reaching. Whether it is online-related, print-related, or the use of new technology in the clinician's field, Julie makes a point to follow up with each person. She actively looks for new ideas and advances in our field and passes them onto faculty," commented one of Julie's colleagues.

"Julie is a very compassionate person and cares about faculty on an individual basis. Never once in all the time that I have known Julie has she ever appeared frustrated with a professor, I have never heard her complain, she seems to have an infinite level of patience in assisting adult learners manage and manoeuvre the online world. Julie never loses sight of the teachable moment, however, can assess that there is a right time for everything."
"She is wonderful, inspirational teacher in the lives of so many adult learners, the faculty. She has impacted so many in extremely positive ways. She is a favoured member of the team and a treasured colleague!," remarked a third."

Julie is a champion of educational technology which she gently promotes on a daily basis to faculty members. Julie is a member of the FOL Administrator group which includes representatives from across the College. At the monthly meetings, Julie shares her ideas and best practices openly with team members and several of Julie's suggestions for improvement have been implemented across the College. Julie is active in promoting new products across the College and she is currently part of the ePortfolio pilot group. Julie is also part of the pilot group for the FOL-Datatel grade transfer which is developing a new automated grade transfer process. Julie's love for technology does not stop when she leaves work. She recently completed her Master's in Educational Technology from the University of British Columbia and for fun Julie will create 'databases' for a variety of amateur sports organizations that she is involved with. Julie also maintains an active Twitter account and blog called edutechfan, where she provides timely updates on the latest in technology.

I would like to thank you for staying ALL day to help us. I really appreciate it. There are those teachers who love what they do and it really shows. Its works like a chain reaction, if you love it chances are we’ll love it. I like to recognize those teachers who have an affect on me and my education. Having negative experiences with teachers who aren’t passionate about their work make me thankful for those teachers who do.

Thanks for coming to watch the ball hockey finals....
Hi Julie,
It seems that we have reached the end of the class sooner than expected. You have been great. You are a very gifted teacher, very organized and patient. This is the best web enhanced class that I have taken. You challenged us every week with work at home or in class.
I love learning like this so may show up again somewhere- that is a threat!

Today I had a great time playing with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. The more I learn about various programs, the more I want to learn. I think I say every week how amazed I am at how much fun this is and how much I like it.
Thanks Julie for doing such a great job every week.

I’m impressed with how the class is set up – it seems very efficient. It’s very different then the other on-line courses I’ve taken. I’m very impressed with how quickly all my questions/inquiries have been answered by the instructor!!
I found the content of Week Two to be quite interesting and fortunately not too technical!! I am really enjoying the way the course is set up – it is so organized and easy to follow. The Quizzes are great especially being able to check you marks right away.

I was apprehensive about going to class today but was pleasantly surprised. I was nervous about getting into a class that I couldn’t handle. I found a small group of people with similar strengths to mine! They were not computer wizards! They just wanted to learn. They all seem to be very nice.
I found that Julie was very prepared. I liked the way that the course is mapped out and everything is written down. It gives us a chance to review, when things are coming at us too fast. Julie seems very patient and understanding with the questions asked.

Awesome….the last few weeks have been just great….your Camtasia CD learning was awesome, and I’ve learned some great tips already about Dreamweaver…although I’ve used it, I got taught by an expert over quite a few beers…so I know how to do things that I don’t know what they mean!! Templates, and defining the site to name the tow most important…then there’s Fireworks…wow….I though Imageready was all there was in life…..

I’m glad that I had this opportunity to get my feet wet with dreamweaver. I am getting set to wow all of my friends and family… J
The PowerPoint stuff was helpful as well. I can’t believe how many great presentations I have made since I learned the tricks! I am actually planning on doing some of those “Expert” chapters in the text just to learn some more. Don’t tell my classmates, they’ll make fun of me!
I have enjoyed your class. I love the participation instead of a learning journal. Another instructor makes us write a learning journal and it’s awful. I just got my second installment back (basically all of November) and I didn’t get perfect? How could I not get perfect? See, your system works. Send in participation for every class, if you miss a class, send in your reasons for not attending and how you got caught up on work. Perfect. And then you simply marked us on our submissions. It makes sense you know.
Anyway, kudos to you for doing some of these little things that we appreciated.
I would have liked to have you instruct more classes on Dreamweaver. I found that day that you walked through the starting steps of Dreamweaver to be more helpful than some of your website information. But overall, I enjoyed your class and I learned a lot.

I must start to say how much I have been looking forward to this program. I like your hands on approach towards learning in this Instructional Technology & Presentation Skills course. The survey you introduced in class was a very good idea, and having us individually introduce each other allowed me to have a better understanding of the group dynamics in regards to our computer skills.
Working in the lab was exciting for me because it allowed me the hands on practical experience needed to grasp the instructions and content of the subject matter. I look forward to the developing and designing of a web site and the presentations of various visual and graphic mediums. Most of all I welcome the learning to be gained from the group and you.
